Dr. Kavanagh participates in several regional cancer programs across York, Simcoe, Durham, and Peel. We are happy to see patients from anywhere in Ontario.
We welcome new patients for evaluation of:
- lung cancer or pulmonary nodules (minimally invasive lobectomy offered
- mediastinal adenopathy or tumors
- pleural effusions
- esophageal cancer or dysphagia (minimally invasive esophagectomy offered)
- chest wall defects like pectus deformities or thoracic outlet syndrome
- pneumothorax or chest wall trauma
- GERD, hiatus hernia
- hyperhidrosis.
Referrals for diagnostic or therapeutic bronchoscopy and upper endoscopy are also welcome.

Dr. Crystal Kavanagh was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, and completed her Thoracic Surgery training in Toronto. Dr. Kavanagh has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery. She is a member of the clinical teaching staff at TMU’s School of Medicine and currently serves as the VP of the section on Thoracic Surgery for the OMA. A

Additionally, she has contributed to curriculum development for York University's new medical school and supports women and children at risk as a board member of the Sudbury Women's Centre.
